The FDX-3IR combines three separate infrared sensors each tuned to a different wavelength within a single optical block. The data from every sensor is evaluated simultaneously by an on-board signal-processing algorithm. By distinguishing the spectral signature of a genuine hydrocarbon flame from background radiation, this approach maximises detection reliability.

The flameproof (Ex d) construction makes the device suitable for direct use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 potentially explosive atmospheres. With its triple IR sensors working in parallel, the FDX-3IR catches a flame in the very first moments it forms and instantly signals the connected fire-detection or suppression system through its relay output. That buys valuable seconds to trigger automatic suppression sequences or to evacuate the site.

The FDX-3IR Flame Detector holds ATEX (Zone 1, Zone 2) and IECEx certification. Its II 2G Ex d IIC T4 Gb Ex marking approves it for the broadest gas-group category (IIC). As a result, it can be deployed in full regulatory compliance even in facilities with high-risk atmospheres such as hydrogen.
